QODAS
The Quebec-Ontario Dialogues on Acquisition and Spanish (QODAS) is a collaborative academic initiative organized by four universities: Western University, University of Toronto, University of Ottawa, and Université de Montréal. The primary goal of QODAS is to provide a dynamic and inclusive platform where graduate students and faculty can present their research and engage in meaningful dialogue on topics related to language acquisition, bilingualism, and multilingualism, with a particular focus on Spanish.

Since its creation, QODAS has grown to include a broader range of linguistic topics, including research in Portuguese and comparative studies involving heritage speakers, second language learners, and multilingual contexts.

For nearly 20 years, QODAS has served as a collaborative academic forum for sharing and discussing research on Spanish language acquisition, bilingualism, and multilingualism. Since its first edition in 2005, the event has been dedicated to promoting research, encouraging inter-institutional collaboration, and providing a space where graduate students and faculty can exchange ideas, present their work in progress, and engage in meaningful academic dialogue.
This sustained effort reflects QODAS’s commitment to supporting the development of emerging scholars and advancing the study of language acquisition in Canada.
